The Upper East Sider’s Guide to the Hamptons

Urbana’s Central Park luxury apartments make for the ideal launchpad for spending summer weekends in the Hamptons. Mere moments from 985 Fifth Avenue and 800 Fifth Avenue, one will find boutiques and experts in all things Hamptons, interweaving the elegance of life in Manhattan with the beach chic of the South Fork. Whether in search of the perfect décor for your Hamptons home, or a fresh new style to carry you through the season’s essential social gatherings, life at Urbana’s Fifth Avenue luxury rental residences places you exactly where you need to tap into the glamour of a beach community sprung from the spirit of the city.

John Heilmann’s Homenature has locations both in Southampton and on the Upper East Side, and his organic, nature-inspired furniture and home décor will give any Hamptons home a feeling of luxury and create a seamlessness between indoors and out. The shop was featured in Goop’s Hamptons Guide as a “natural-materials-focused furniture and décor shop … rife with everything from plush couches to elegant hostess gifts (with a bit of vintage sprinkled in for good measure).” In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Heilmann listed some of his favorite items from the shop. First on Heilmann’s list is the work of sculptor Chuck Price. “Homenature was founded in the Hamptons and we love supporting local artists,” Heilmann said. “The works by Chuck Price explore neglected forms in nature like wishbones and they glorify these beautiful organic shapes.” Equally sculptural is the Portland Freeform Coffee Table, a striking piece — suggestive of sweeping ocean breezes — made from the smoothed trunk of a chamcha tree.

Heilmann’s store is a favorite of the American fashion visionary Michael Kors, who has been a fixture of the Hamptons scene for years. Kors’ Madison Avenue shop is filled with clothes, bathing suits, and accessories, all of which seamlessly mix full-stop glamour with summer ease. His white One-Shoulder Swimsuit is so refined that you could wear a diaphanous skirt over it and go straight from the beach to cocktail hour — and back again.

Another Upper East Side treasure that also functions as a one-stop-shopping destination for all Hamptons necessities is Barneys, the luxury department store that has you covered from skincare to sun hats, and from sunglasses to summer dresses. Head straight to the Barneys Vacation Shop where you can find beachwear favorites like the House of Lafayette Jones Raffia Fedora and the La Vie Style House Floral Silk Chiffon Maxi Caftan. For him, grab a pair of Oakley Radar EV Advancer sunglasses and a Barena Venezia Cotton Oversized Popover shirt for a touch of European summer elegance.

Other Upper East Side stores that nail the Hamptons look include Tory Burch, for striking summery prints on bathing suits and dresses; Vince, with styles ideal for beach strolling or drinks on the patio; and Selima Optique, whose Adri O sunglasses are beloved by Lady Gaga.

Once your house is stocked and your bags are packed, the only question is how to transport yourself to beachside paradise in style. East Wind Limousine offers chauffeured service from New York City to the Hamptons, so you can relax and arrive refreshed. If you’re in a hurry, just charter a flight -- helicopter company Blade will fly you straight out to the Hamptons. The nonstop stunning views along the coast will make you feel like you are on vacation the instant you achieve liftoff.
